Being called an Olympian is in no way offensive… it is just not accurate, as I have never been to an Olympic Games. I wrote this article to try to help people understand why being called a Paralympian is so important. Using the correct term goes far beyond sport, it acknowledges the history of the Paralympic movement. It also recognizes that inequalities exist in society and acknowledges the people who fought for human rights and carries on the ideal of an inclusive future.
